Warren, PA— Unfortunately, the Supreme Court today reversed almost 50 years of legal precedent in regard to one of the most intensely personal choices a woman can make about her body. The lives of innumerable Americans will be jeopardized as a result of this decision. It is more important than ever to register to vote and to show up at the polls on November 8, 2022, to make sure your voice is heard.
The decision has cast a light on the current Governors race and the opposing views being offered. The Republican Nominee, Doug Mastriano, has stated he will institute abortion bans if elected, with no exceptions. He wouldn’t even include exceptions where the mother’s life is at risk or could lead to her death.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, the Democratic nominee has pledged that he will veto any attempt by the legislature to obstruct access to abortion and will fight for women’s right to autonomy over their bodies.
This fall, with the SCOTUS decision, the voters have a serious choice to make when it comes to women’s liberties.
Commissioner Jeff Eggleston stated, “The Republican Party, through Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell, have chosen to politicize the court by engineering the appointment of extremist judges. This is the end result. The Democratic Party must now rally and fight for women’s freedoms and make a woman’s right to choose law.”
